Garden Rooms (Work in Progress) | Outdoor Portrait Photographer, Newton, NC
Posted on March 9, 2010
The last few days have been absolutely beeeeeeeeautiful here in Newton, North Carolina. Brilliant sunshine, weather in the 60s and only light breezes. Perfect. I HAD to be outside. I’ve been cooped up in this house for months and going stir crazy. I believe they call it Cabin Fever. So, I’ve been taxing my poor body by raking, digging, planting and hanging windows out of trees. Yep, that’s right. Hanging windows out of trees. I’m creating two new “sets” in my backyard. One is a room complete with windows. A 100 pound (no kidding) iron bench, and tons and tons of plants. I’m even thinking about hanging a chandelier from the trees! The other room, which is barely started, will feature a little iron fence with a double gate that opens up and leads back to …. probably a bird bath. Also, full of plants and flowers. These two “rooms” will be lush and green and just gorgeous in photographs. And unique.
Not everyone has windows hanging from their trees.
Here’s a sneak peek of the window room in progress. It’s got a long way to go and will be so pretty once the trees get leaves and everything “wakes” up. Can’t wait!
I will be holding “Garden Room Mini Sessions” for the whole month of May to try out my new sets. So be sure and check back often. Details will be coming soon!

The {H} Family | Family/Infant Portrait Photographer, Newton, NC

A few more for the {H} Family. Baby {C} was not too much into having his photo made on this day. He was more interested in watching tv and taking a nap. Typical man.
Saturday marked his 3 month old birthday. I must say, he is cute as a button. But, I wish he would have given me one, just one, big gummy smile. It would have made my day.
There’s just nothing cuter than baby toes!
While Baby {C} took a power nap, mom, dad and I snuck outside for a few shots of just the two of them. Love this one.
Then it was back inside to scoop up the little guy and try one more time to get a family shot. Just one …. I love these next three. So sweet….
See this adorable little smile …. guess what he was doing??? haha! I’m just happy to have captured it!
It was such a pleasure to meet you guys on Saturday! I can’t wait to show you the rest of your pics! Hugs to Baby {C}!

Girl Power | Teenage Portrait Photographer, Newton, NC

These two girls have been friends for a long time. Miss {D} came home with Kelly on Friday and we did an impromptu photo session just out in the yard. We were short on daylight though, so we had to be quick!
Photography is a never ending lesson. Just when you think you get a certain shooting pattern down pat, it’s time to branch out and try something else. I used to always shoot in the shade. Always! I’ve been really pushing myself to get out into the sunlight and learn how to manipulate the light for some more interesting shots. Almost all of these shots are back-lit. I’m far from perfect at it, but I’m making progress. I just love the way the light shines off their hair. So pretty. Kinda like little angelic halos. Hah!
Miss {D} is a beautiful girl inside and out. I spent some time getting some beautiful shots of her by herself as well.
One of my personal favorites. See that little hint of a sunflare above Kelly’s hair? Love that!
Miss (D) is a gymnast. Can you tell???
I asked her to do a “gymnast pose”. How cute is this??
Love these next 3 …
